Orlando Pina has been in the construction industry for over 20 years. He started as an ironworker/laborer right out of high school. As he gained experience and expertise he climbed the ladder beginning as a laborer all the way up to project manager. The entire time he has been in the construction industry safety has always been a priority of his, and has promoted safety among his fellow coworkers. In 2008 he transitioned into a full time safety representative. During this transition it became very apparent to him that he was passionate about safety, educating and training those around him about safety, and keeping people injury and illness free. As he continued down the safety career path he pursued different educational opportunities that helped him gain his various certifications: SSH, CSHO, SHEP. He is currently working on getting his MC and CHST. He currently works for a large general construction firm in the DFW metroplex. Safety is very important, and it is something the entire workforce should embrace. Safety is most effective when it is promoted from the top down, in every organization. Safety is not just a word, it’s a way of Life.
