
Dusty K. Cotter, GSP, EMT is a Licensed EMT and veteran. His safety career began during his time in the Air Force. As a Medical Evacuation Tech stationed in Ramstein, Germany and Ft. Bragg, NC, Mr. Cotter held many positions during his time in the service, such as Flight Instructor, Mission Ops Supervisor, Shift Leader, and Certification Instructor, with multiple combat deployments abroad. Following his military career, Mr. Cotter pursued a degree from Southeastern Oklahoma State University, where he graduated with a BS in Occupational Health and Safety. Transitioning from an active role in ASSP as a student, Mr. Cotter played a crucial role in the 2018 SW Chapter PDC as Co-Chairman; it surpassed expectations set from previous years by doubling attendance and recruiting top-notch speakers such as a former ASSP President and ASSP President-Elect to deliver captivating material. Dusty has served the Southwest chapter as Secretary in 2019 and Treasurer in 2020. Mr. Cotter is currently employed by Maxim Crane Works L.P. as District Safety Manager. Mr. Cotter covers Maxim’s largest district, spanning much of Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, and Colorado, and includes 80+ cranes. Mr. Cotter’s duties include Incident Investigation, Hazard Mitigations, Employment Pre-screening, Drug Testing, and Site Auditing/Planning. His passion for safety continues to show through his professional career and his volunteer position as Captain at Whitewright Fire Department.
